Ideation Box Team attends ArabNet ME

The Ideation Box team was proud to attend and take part in the first ArabNet ME conference held in Beirut, Lebanon on the 26th – 27th March, 2010.

ArabNet 2010 is the first international conference for the Arab web industry and it brought together leaders from across the MENA, Europe, and Silicon Valley under one roof to discuss cutting-edge trends and emerging opportunities. Professionals took to the stage as members of several panels – each dedicated to one topic pertaining to the web industry and entrepreneurship  – and shared their experience and knowledge with conference attendees. At the conclusion of each panel, which lasted approx. 2 hours, attendees and members of the audience were given the chance to ask questions which were in turn addressed by the panel.

Through 7 minute pitch sessions, the conference featured the region’s brightest ideas and promising internet start-ups, and exposed and publicized them in effort to connect them with the internet ecosystem: incubators, angel investors, venture capitalists, established internet companies, NGOs and influential bloggers.

A Gala Dinner hosted by Bank Audi on night was the venue in which the winners of the Ideathon were announced. First place went to Farah Al Fadel and her team with her idea of tasmeem.me.

What were we doing?

It has a been a very long time since we updated our Ideation Blog! That wasn’t the plan; but we should always expect the unexpected. The Ideation Box team members were too busy working on deliver the best quality to our clients and in-house project Nakhweh.com.

Let’s give you some information about the work we have done during the last couple of weeks:

We were doing the designs for the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW)

That task came out of the sudden, and we had to face it with our super powers; by collaborating with the organizers especially the QRCE Staff to deliver the impressive work, that people have seen in the newspapers, the venue, the GEW sessions and that they will keep seeing during the week between the 16th and the 22nd of November, in a very short time.

We were really glad to get the great feedback on the work and the theme we have done for the GEW especially the venue and the stage:

We worked on Nakhweh

Now, after 3 months of launching Nakhweh.com (Jordan’s first volunteer matching website), we have statistical information to share with you that show the performance of the website at its very early stages:

  • We have a total of 15 registered organizations on the website that are benefiting from Nakhweh’s services.
  • We reached the total of 954 users until the time of publishing this post.
  • A total of 49 volunteering opportunities have been posted.
  • A total of 856 volunteering applications have been submitted to the listed opportunities.

Stay tuned for the big move on the initiative as we are already working on a plan to move the whole thing to another level hoping to reach a beta version of it as we still consider what we have is not even an alpha.

The Ideation Box team is still working on delivering couple of projects, we’ll be informing you about them as soon as they are launched.

As a Ruby on Rails application that is done using the highest web 2.0 standards with a very friendly interface design and information architectures; Wheels Express website is now a complete e-commerce portal that offers variety of services that include DVD’s, Blu-ray, Video Games, Snacks, Sheeshas, Pre-paid mobile cards and much more.
